so, i was speaking with a relative recently, who is "in" the borg, but is completely aware of the terrible hypocrisy from the gb down.
he is not in the box, and its great to be able to have a realistic, and logical discussion about the current state of the org.. we started discussing, specifically, about that bunker video that was released in december.

Walking on water is supernatural, who wants to live a life of miracles and perform miracles for the sake of faith? It would be mentally destabilising. The story of Peter’s example is perverse and should be ignored for the spiritual nonsense it is. These are thoughts for targeting gullible people. Try walking with your feet firmly on the ground for a change.
What on earth is good about faith? Why bother with the inferior quality of faith when today especially; we can know things? Faith is for those without hope or knowledge.
Doubts are a defence against being controlled by others. Doubts prevent us from being gullible. Only by taking a sceptical stance will anyone arrive at a reasoned assessment of reality. Doubt, without cynicism, is an essential ingredient of all we do.
There is one human sin which all Jehovah’s Witnesses have committed: being naive... and while the GB elevate their own position they abuse their followers by coercing them to remain naive.

this is my current bottom-line conclusion after starting to see through the jw game 3 to 4 years ago and going through my own process of waking up.
it helps to write it down and put it "out there".
i hope it helps or resonates with you in your own personal process.. basically if i were given 10 seconds to say something to an active jehovah's witness that i cared about it would be the headline above.
Further to Steve's comment, Muggeridge was a vastly entertaining speaker and writer influenced by his long experience as a journalist and foreign correspondent... but... in later life had the fundamental defect of subordinating his world view to a rigid deism of the Catholic variety. It appeared to me to be a form of penance and atonement for earlier misdemeanours.
@exjwsrock, do bear in mind that the path of waking up (usually) travels from the closed and fixated religious JW mind to being a responsible free moral agent using reason and evidence for decision making instead of belief. It is like growing up. Many get snagged on the way by the familiar lure of the rewards of faith.
When people post who have exited, it is possible to see just where they are on this path and I think recognizing the folly of "faith" and "belief" is a necessary hurdle to jump in escaping the old mind-set.

made some good points.. knowing both sides of the medallion, have to admit he was humble with a focus on hope.. the saturday drama impressed me.
of course, there is a lot to say about the organization, this professional produced movie in a "true story" scenario, gave me the insight that hope is important for suffering people.

All religion is about hope because there is little or no evidence of any reality connected to it except seeing the lives and activities of fellow believers. It sort of convinces the believer that hoping the same thing with others will make make it come true.
